A snapshot of document lodgement activity
WA’s strong property market continued to drive near record levels of land titling activity for Landgate in 2025-26. A total of 443,127 documents were lodged, representing a 4.4% increase on 2024-25 and an 8% increase since 2022-23. The majority (84%) were lodged electronically, and automatically examined, meaning faster registration for customers. The remaining documents that required manual examination had variable registration times depending on their nature and complexity.
The value of transfer documents lodged for registration exceeded $88 billion. As at 30 June 2026, there were 1,568,114 titles held in the land titles register, highlighting the scale and importance of WA’s land title registration system.
While activity remained high over the longer term. From Q4 of the 2025/26 financial year to Q1 of the 2026/27 financial year document lodgements declined by 10.17%. Likely due to the federal governments negative gearing and capital gains tax changes, announced in May of this year. Landgate remains committed to providing secure, reliable and efficient registration services for customers across WA.
Faster survivorship registrations with electronic lodgement
Missed our update? In June this year, Landgate enabled auto-examination of eligible electronically lodged survivorship applications, allowing them to be examined, processed and registered within seconds.
Electronic lodgement helps streamline the process, reduce document errors and deliver faster registration outcomes.
