Landgate has received a Premier’s Award for the New Land Registry (NLR) project under the Developing the Economy category. Landgate developed the NLR in collaboration with its commercial partner Ajilon.
The NLR is our innovative cloud-based computing platform that automates more than 50 per cent of land transactions, driving down document processing times and costs.
Landgate Chief Executive Mike Bradford said it was an honour to receive the Premier’s Award.
“Landgate has a strong tradition of exploring, from the first Surveyor General John Septimus Roe arriving on the shores of Western Australia in 1829 to the forward thinking of our people today,” Mike said.
“In 2013 our Innovation Program explored an idea to embrace digital disruption and revolutionise the 19th century Torrens system. It revolutionises the way land transactions are conducted state-wide, nationally and internationally.
“The huge success of the project in WA has been the result of a sustained vision of what we could achieve from many people across the business. I would like to acknowledge the NLR team for their strong support in particular our project partner Ajilon, General Manager Finance Information and Legal Services John Wreford and Registrar of Titles Jean Villani.”
The NLR has a total project saving of $52 million across the first five years of operation in Western Australia.
It also has the potential to deliver estimated savings of hundreds of millions of dollars per annum to Australian land registries, mortgagors and mortgagees.
