Landgate 19th most innovative company in Australia

Landgate was recently ranked 19th on the 2018 Australian Financial Review Most Innovative Companies List. This ranking follows our 2016 success when we also ranked in the top 100.  This year Landgate was the top ranked government agency – local, state or federal – to make the 2018 AFR list. A great achievement, solidifying the success of our innovation program, which was the first of its kind in the public sector. Since its inception in 2008, the program has funded and implemented more than 150 business improvements that have generated better outcomes for customers and efficiency benefits for the State.

Organisations that are represented on the AFR’s list must prove that they use innovation to solve everyday business challenges, plus provide an example of a project that demonstrates their commitment to innovation.

This year, the judges were impressed by Landgate’s lifesaving fire consequence mapping technology, a collaboration between the agency, the Department of Fires and Emergency Services and Western Power.

This innovation uses advanced cloud computing capability to predict the impact a bushfire, originating from the south-west network, may have from a single ignition sources like power poles.

The innovation will assist Western Power determine which locations across the network that may pose the largest consequence, saving lives and homes by helping prioritise which assets to maintain first.

Landgate will continue to be a leader in innovation beyond the introduction of a commercial operator for the automated land titling functions.
