WA property sales continue to decline

New figures show the number of property transfer documents lodged at Landgate in September 2016 fell by 7.65 per cent compared to August and was 13 per cent lower than the same period last year.

Landgate’s September 2016 Business Activity Profile (BAP) also shows the total number of transaction documents lodged at the agency dropped 8.5 per cent compared to the previous month and was 10 per cent lower than September 2015.

Landgate Chief Executive Mike Bradford said the number of property searches conducted through Landgate also declined.

“Searching activity for September 2016 fell by 8.26 per cent compared to August,” Mr Bradford said.

“When we compare this period to September 2015, we see a 14 per cent decrease.”

Landgate's Business Activity Profile covers all property related documents lodged within Landgate and is a barometer of the state of the property market in Western Australia.

The September BAP 2016 [PDF 1.1MB] is available on Landgate's website. It provides the monthly total of all documents lodged with sections detailing transfers, mortgages, caveats, searches and other categories of property related documents.
