Landgate spurs on WA innovators through grants

  • Local innovators to benefit from grants of up to $25,000 through Landgate's location technology hub, SPUR.
  • SPURonWA grants support local entrepreneurs in the location information space - helping to diversify the WA economy and create jobs

Lands Minister Ben Wyatt was today delighted to announce six Western Australian innovators working on location-based products and services across the property, community services, environment and tourism industries to receive their share of $92,700 allocated from Landgate's location technology hub, SPUR, to help drive innovation.

A 22 per cent increase in submissions from last year indicates a greater understanding of the possibilities for government data use. Successful projects are evaluated for their capacity to contribute to local economic growth or to improve government service delivery.

Winner of the SPUR award for best innovative use of Landgate and government location data, uDrew, will use the grant to develop a new product within the cost saving design and engineering platform. uDrew is the world's first building technology platform that makes designing, planning and building your own projects faster and more affordable.

In addition to the grants program, SPUR provides support to assist the development of local location-data based ideas, such as co-working with Landgate's geospatial experts and access to Landgate's property and location data.
