Landgate celebrates International Women’s Day

Celebrating the contribution that women make to the workforce and community has been a feature on Landgate's calendar for many years.

"Inspiring change" is one of many themes of International Women's Day 2014, and Landgate incorporated this theme at its annual IWD breakfast with two inspirational speakers.

Landgate Chief Executive Mike Bradford said the breakfast offered the opportunity to pay tribute to successful and inspirational Western Australian women.

"Marion Fulker and Jane Ensor are both a true reflection of this year's theme," Mr Bradford said.

"Marion's role as Chief Executive of the Committee for Perth, combined with on the ground research, has led to her being recognised as one of the leading experts on the future growth and development of the Perth region.

"Jane was a finalist in the Telstra Business Women's awards in 2013 and awarded the 2013 WA Woman Lawyer of the Year for being an inspiration for women in law."

Each year Landgate donates proceeds from the breakfast to a charity and this year Scleroderma Australia was the recipient.

"Scleroderma Australia was chosen because women are four times more likely than men to suffer this disease of the immune system, blood vessels and connective tissues," Mr Bradford said.

"The disease is hard to diagnose because each person may have different combinations of symptoms – there is a great need for further research into this disabling disease."

A $1000 cheque from Landgate, as well as contributions made by guests at the breakfast, was presented to Scleroderma Australia representatives at the conclusion of the event.
