Highest first quarter figures in four years

Landgate's September 2013 Business Activity Profile (BAP), released today, confirms the strongest first quarter for the Western Australian property market for four years.

Landgate Acting Chief Executive Jodi Cant said, "Landgate's monthly BAP reports show a steady increase in document lodgement activity which clearly indicates that there is continued confidence in the market."

"Activity in the first quarter of 2013/14 was 8.2 per cent higher than the same time last financial year," said Miss Cant.

"There were increases in many types of document lodgements when compared with September last year, including increases in total documents lodged, transfers, searches and new lots created."

As with the previous month of August, there was a substantial increase in the creation of strata lots in September 2013 of 42.2 per cent when compared to the same time last year.

Miss Cant said these figures may reflect a trend in the development of smaller lots as a way to manage property prices as land values increase.

The September 2013 BAP is available on Landgate's website. It provides the daily average of all documents lodged with sections detailing transfers, mortgages, caveats, searches and other categories of property related documents.
