Green thumbs up for Landgate staff

Following on from the success of its inaugural corporate tree planting day in 2011, Landgate has again participated in a revegetation program at Whiteman Park.

More than 90 Landgate staff planted approximately 1,500 native seedlings on Friday 3 August 2012.

The early morning rain cleared leaving the earth damp, loose and perfect for tree planting. After a quick demonstration, staff got straight into getting their hands dirty.

Landgate Chief Executive Mike Bradford said the tree planting event demonstrated the organisation‟s commitment to its core values of "community" and "sustainability".

"It's rewarding to see our staff actively contributing to environmental sustainability and conservation in their local community," said Mr Bradford.

Whiteman Park Manager Steve Lowe said community participation was vital to the Park‟s revegetation program.

"We usually aim to plant 20,000 seedlings, however this year we will be planting more than 30,000 thanks to the wonderful support we‟ve received from organisations such as Landgate and other local groups including the Scouts, church groups, colleges and various vacation care groups," said Mr Lowe.

After the planting, staff at Whiteman Park treated Landgate's volunteers to a barbecue lunch to thank them for their great work and commitment to the revegetation program.
