Landgate Satellite Remote Sensing Services host event at Cockburn Wetlands

Did you know satellites can help monitor our environment? Join experts from Landgate's Satellite Remote Sensing Services (SRSS) at Cockburn Wetlands Education Centre on Saturday 20 November 2010, to learn about earth observation satellites and how they can be used to track changes in native vegetation.

The session will take place between 9:30am and 12:30pm, with 30 minute presentations held at 10:30 am and 11:30am. This event is an inspiring Australia initiative, organised by Landgate in association with the City of Cockburn.

Landgate's Satellite Remote Sensing Services (SRSS) is a dedicated remote sensing facility. We are unique in Australia in that we provide the full range of remote sensing services - from direct acquisition of satellite data to processing of data, and then delivering that data to government and business via our products and services.

SRSS is at the leading edge of research and development in remote sensing and its applications. The collection of skills and experience housed within SRSS enables Landgate to develop innovative solutions to any number of natural resource management problems. Landgate's SRSS has extensive involvement in Federal Government programs and offers a range of products and services for both national and international markets.

Cockburn Wetlands Education Centre on Hope Road in Bibra Lake was established in 1993. The centre is an independent, not-for-profit, community organisation dedicated to wetlands, restoration activities, environmental education, youth services and facility hire. Numerous volunteers implement the centre's activities along with the assistance of a small band of dedicated staff. The centre provides a gateway to the Beeliar Regional Park, which consists of two parallel chains of wetlands including 27 different wetlands.
