Lowest November in more than 12 years

New figures from Landgate show that total documents lodged last month were the lowest for a November in more than 12 years.

Landgate’s Business Activity Profile (BAP) shows that the total number of documents lodged in November was two per cent lower than the same period in 2015. However there was a seven per cent increase from October 2016.

Landgate Deputy Chief Executive Jodi Cant said overall activity traditionally declines between October and November before picking up again in December, but 2016 bucked this trend.

“This year we saw a seven per cent increase from October 2016, driven by strata lodgements,” Ms Cant said.

“New strata lots created increased by 78 per cent and strata plan and survey strata plan lodgements increased 18 per cent compared with the previous month.

“Transfers, mortgages and searches all increased slightly from October 2016 by nine, five and six per cent respectively,” Ms Cant said.

The November BAP 2016 [PDF 2.1MB] is available on Landgate's website. It provides the monthly total of all documents lodged with sections detailing transfers, mortgages, caveats, searches and other categories of property related documents.
