Proposals for New Land Tenure Legislation

As part of a review of land tenure laws, a draft framework for new tenure legislation has been developed by a committee of industry, government and community representatives. Under the proposed framework, new tenure and community title legislation would provide for:
community title schemes to be established on land of different tenures;
one or more bodies to manage a community title scheme;
purchasers of community titles to receive more information; and
clear processes for the staging of community title schemes.
Details of the proposed framework are set out in a consultation paper.
