Property Street Addressing Guidelines

Property Street Addressing data custodianship rests with Landgate whilst the control and responsibility for addressing resides with the local government authorities. The custodial commitment by Landgate entails the maintenance of an accurate and current address dataset.

URBAN PROPERTY STREET ADDRESSING IN WESTERN AUSTRALIA

Urban addressing applies to the addressing of all properties within the limits of an urban address area. Every address site within the boundary of an urban area shall be given a number or number range. This includes public reserves, schools, buildings, address sites accessed by water and all other fixtures and locations situated in urban thoroughfares which currently are not numbered but require street addresses to establish their locations.

RURAL PROPERTY ADDRESSING IN WESTERN AUSTRALIA

Rural addressing applies to the addressing of all address sites, which lie outside the limits of an urban numbering system. Remote pastoral regions without connection to a trafficable network may be excepted.

The objective and principles that apply to rural addressing are similar to urban addressing.
