Native Title Maps

Landgate is responsible for providing and maintaining an accurate spatial definition for the extent of native title applications lodged with the Federal Court and the Native Title Tribunal.

Landgate has a range of land tenure information, reports, maps, plots and customised information supporting native title claims over Western Australia. Landgate also has specific information in relation to applications and claims lodged with both the Federal Court and the Native Title Tribunal.

These reports are useful for those entities or individuals involved in project development. The reports covering specific claims include topographic and cadastral information as well as petroleum and mining information.

Reports on reserves can be attained outlining the responsibilities or vested authority, purpose and class, gazette date and or document details. Lease type, purpose, register and contact details can also be supplied. In specific areas of the State, a historical land tenure search is available in map or report format.

Designed to provide easier access to Landgate's cadastral and native title information to stakeholders who deal with native title claims over land in Western Australia. Landgate Map Viewer has two additional layers, native title claims registered with the National Native Title Tribunal (NNTT) and the native title claims lodged with the Federal Court. The data can be interrogated using the native title name, the Federal Court reference number and the NNTT number. Information that can be retrieved includes legal representatives, registered claimants, status of the claim and a variety of dates at which actions have occurred. An enquiry on a piece of land can be made and then the ability to see the claims graphically in relation to each other and to the underlying cadastral parcels is significant for users of Landgate.
