Charge for Survey Plans
08/13/2009
Landgate advises that it will now apply a fee for all survey plans ordered in conjunction with a Certificate of Title.
For many years in Western Australia the `sketch on title’ has been an integral component of the old paper-based Certificate of Title. But in 2001, the new digital (electronic) title was introduced and so began the transition to online services.
The old paper and the sketch title became obsolete and the information previously recorded on the sketch was then recorded exclusively on the Survey Plan.
Since 2001, a survey plan has been provided for free if a sketch was requested with the Certificate of Title, but no sketch existed. From now on, a charge will apply for all survey plans ordered with, or independently of a title. If a sketch does exist on the title then it will continue to be available on request at no extra charge.
It is important to note that where a sketch title exists, it may contain easement information that is not recorded on a survey plan. Where a paper title has been superseded with a digital title, the latter will carry a notation advising you if any interests have been registered on the sketch.
Land Enquiry customers seeking survey plans will also notice the process has changed slightly. From now on it will provide people with an option to purchase a survey plan at the current charge. You can access the current fees at Landgate’s website; www.landgate.wa.gov.au
