CarbonWatch

Landgate is currently developing a suite of online carbon accounting tools, designed specifically for forest carbon sink projects. The suite of tools, known as CarbonWatch, is aimed at making it easier for project owners to plan, monitor, quantify and report on carbon sequestration projects.

CarbonWatch uses high resolution satellite imagery to provide an accurate, cost-effective alternative to field monitoring methods. It is being developed in collaboration with carbon offset providers and industry participants to ensure accuracy and suitability.

CarbonStart

CarbonStart is a web-based application designed specifically for carbon forest sink projects. It will provide you with a range of data and imagery for your property and allow you to download an Eligibility Support Package.

The Eligibility Support Package contains satellite derived property data which can be used to identify areas of land that are eligible for forest sink abatement projects under the Kyoto Protocol. The statement also contains a range of datasets which can be used to assess the suitability of the property.*

The CarbonStart web service offers:

  • Access to satellite imagery prior to 1990
  • Ability to measure the land area of the project
  • Project mark-up capabilities
  • Ability to save and edit projects in a secure, online environment

Project owners can also use CarbonStart to determine the suitability of future project sites by drawing on historical growth data, rainfall data, digital elevation models and soils data.
