Subscribers to VegetationWatch have access to downloadable satellite maps that show the amount of vegetation cover across Australia.   These 250 metre resolution maps measure greenness by reading the foliage density on the earth’s surface.

Each time a satellite overpasses Australia, an updated greenness image is produced and these can be available only three hours after overpass, resulting in a near real time image.

Farmers and land management professionals can use this information at large paddock scale to estimate crop yield and pasture growth rates, and to forecast the probable impact of rainfall on crop yield.
