Online Title Service for General Public

Media Release for Minister Roberts, 29th March 2007
Landgate's (formerly the Department of Land Information) newest online service helps making a decision to purchase a property that much easier.
Minister for Land Information, Michelle Roberts, said the new service offered members of the general public access to online land and property information.
"This is an incredible improvmenet in the provision of land information to the community," she said.
"Previously, members of the public had to visit Landgate's counter, email or phone their request for information. Now they can purchase a Certificate of Title for land and ownership information simply by visiting Landgate's website at www.landgate.wa.gov.au.
"The property industry has had this online access for some time and it has helped streamline their business activities and members of the public can now enjoy the same facility."
Mrs Roberts said all that was needed to purchase a Certificate of Title for land and ownership information was a credit card and Internet access.
"It costs just $14.00 to purchase and because the website is a secure site, it is safe to submit credit card information," she said.
"A PDF copy of the Title is emailed within minutes of the request."
Information shown on a Title includes the legal land description; landowner/s name/s; ownership arrangements and any registered interests held over the land or restrictions of use.
"This information is handy for potential purchasers, land owners and anyone wishing to research information about a piece of land," Mrs Roberts said. "Simplicity is the key, as you only need to provide the street address to acquire the information."
The new Title Service is the first in a series of products and services that Landgate is making available online for the general public.
Mrs Roberts said combined, these services will form Landgate's online "shopfront" where the general public will be able to buy a range of products by credit card.
"This is another example of Landgate's commitment ot make land information more accessible to the community," she said. (End)
