Minister announces Landgate board

Land Information Minister Michelle Roberts today announced the appointment of the board members to Landgate, the Western Australian land information authority.

Ms Katrina Burton, Ms Gail Curtis, Ms Susan Thomas and Mr Peter Cooke have each been appointed as board members for three-year terms.

They will support chairman Mr Monty House and Landgate’s chief executive Mr Grahame Searle.

“There is a great deal of accumulated political, business and management expertise amongst these board members,” Mrs Roberts said.

“Each brings a wealth of experience that will benefit the agency - their energy and expertise will help drive Landgate forward.”

Retired parliamentarian Monty House had enjoyed a varied career, which included being a past Member for Stirling and the former Minister for Primary Industry and Fisheries. He has continued to demonstrate his exceptional abilities outside political life.

Since 2004, Grahame Searle has held the post of chief executive at the former Department of Land Information. He played a pivotal role in steering the department towards its transition into the statutory authority, Landgate.

Katrina Burton has been a non-executive board member on various financial institution’s boards and committees, and has a strong legal background.

Gail Curtis is a Chartered Accountant and a Fellow of the Taxation Institute of Australia. She has extensive experience in providing advice to small and medium sized businesses in the areas of finance, taxation, business planning and strategies.

Susan Thomas is recognised as an industry leader in service delivery and standards. Her expertise is in strategic management and law.

Peter Cooke has a varied background in agriculture, agribusiness, finance, business development, project management, marketing, communications and strategic planning.
