Fire Watch

FireWatch provides access to downloadable fire hotspots derived from satellite images across Australia, bringing critical information to emergency services, farmers and land management professionals in discovering, tracking and managing prescribed and wild fires.

Also included are burnt area maps dating back to 1997.  These historic images of fire-scarred areas allow land managers to estimate the flammability of land cover and make informed decisions about controlled burnings.

Greenness maps provide near real time information on vegetated land cover.  They are updated daily, alerting landowners if a vegetated area has altered its state from one day to the next and can assist decision-making when monitoring a fire on the move.

Also available is lightning data, search tools and other map layers useful for navigation.
